For many of us starting out in the practice of psionics, we are often bombarded by concepts that confuse us, contradict what we have been taught and attempt to describe abstract mechanisms using analogies and philosophies. At times, our field can seem to be so disorganized and cyclical that it’s a wonder how anybody learns anything at all. Truth be told, our progress is made by individuals who, through one way or another, have hobbled together a working knowledge of techniques and know-how that enabled them to repeatedly experience successful psionics events. These individuals, attempt to educate those new to the field with their experiences and techniques and manage to get some to experience similar successes.
That has been a great resource for many people interested in experiencing progress with psionics but there are also some complexities that arise from such a system. First of all, everybody is different. What works for some, may not for others; and what may be a very effective technique may not shine in the best light when evaluated by others. Also we are dealing with a strongly “perception-based” field of study, where the same situation may be perceived differently by a diversity of people. Attempting to describe a series of “feelings” or “sensations” or “mentalities” using normal language is a challenge and usually doesn’t convey the subject well unless the individual has experienced similar sensations in the past. The social aspects can also become a hindrance: False idols and deception can take root in a strongly peer-orientated group and a lot of impressionable individuals could wind up spinning their wheels (pun intended) and lose interest in what may be the most noteworthy ability that we as mental creatures possibly could learn.
The purpose of science is to take an abstract concept and observe it in such a way where a common theory can be used to re-create success. But when you deal with matters of the mind, often times you leave the realm of controllable, predictable science and wind up in Metaphysics where 2 + 2 = fish.
As we learn, we develop techniques and mentalities that conform to our experiences and knowledge. There exists in the communities numerous theories and techniques regarding success in psionics and most of them stem from individual successes and breakthroughs. As such, many of them differ in ways that are slight and personal to sweeping and contradictory. Not to say that any of these theories or techniques are false or unfounded but often times a technique can be crafted more based on the mentality and opinions of the practitioner rather than on the nature of the system it attempts of interact with. One of these subjects deals with the importance of Energy Manipulation (EM) when training for the practice of Psychokinesis (PK).
For the sake of clarity as well as completeness, I will define the terms to establish my usage of them.
Energy Manipulation, so fittingly named, is the craft of using mental influence to manifest, move, program, transform and in general terms manipulate “energy” being a loose generalization of any active quantity of force, pressure, charge, emission, tension, and such being characterized as forms of potential, electromagnetic, chemical, thermal, nuclear, mass and kinetic energies of both physical and Non-physical varieties.
Psychokinesis literally means “movement of the mind” but can be more exactly described as the mind’s influence over energy, matter, time and space by means of mechanisms not known by our current laws of physics.
Now, I could cop-out on you and draw attention to the semantic connection between the two terms, and then article will be done; but I won’t. ^__^ I WILL however, describe to you a framework and rationale that facilitates PK and the role that EM plays in the equation.
Okay, first off, we need to separate two things: Technique and Mechanics. The mechanics of a system determines what the technique is and WHY it works. The technique is built around the functioning of the system and serves as a starting point for manipulating or utilizing the system. Like the creation of fire and the splitting of the atom, we conduct experiments with the system to examine how it functions through trial and error. When we begin to understand how the mechanics reacts to action, we develop theories and techniques that give us guidelines for success. These theories and techniques can be communicated to others and knowledge is spread.
On a deeper level, mechanics is reality. Generally speaking, “it does `this’ because of how it is constructed.” On the other side, techniques can vary greatly between individuals yet attempt to manipulate the same system. While the techniques differ, the mechanics stay the same. Techniques could be conceived from all sorts of perspectives from all walks of life and yet be based off of observed results seen from the very same system that the other techniques came from.
This is how we got to where we are today in psionics. We have many techniques that have given many people results and each of these techniques have been conceived by people with knowledge and experiences produced from personal experimentation with the same mechanics that we all interact with on a daily basis. Some have taken the investigation further and examined the connections to the understood physical laws and theories as well as the shared experiences of others. These commonalities and connections “anchor” the theories in a foundation that breeds predictable and repeatable successes from mutually understandable concepts and techniques. As of this writing, there are systems of theories that attempt to refine the inner-workings of psionics down to a primary set of concepts that can be used to form techniques based off of the experimentally tested mechanics of reality. Many of these theories use concepts from modern physics as well as metaphysical models to describe ‘how” our mind can cause physical change in reality.
Taking most of these concepts and refining them down to a unified theory is a task well beyond what this humble article hopes to convey, but for the topic at hand, we will look at a simple mechanism that may describe the very framework of PK and how EM is involved.
Information, Energy, Links.
These three simple ingredients may very well be the most essential components of reality.
Information is exactly that; information. Everything that exists does so because of its information. Information is like the blueprint of reality. Physical Information basically describes direct or casual relationships between distinct or spatially separated particles. As the Wikipedia entry on Physical Information elaborates: “Information itself may be loosely defined as “that which can distinguish one thing from another”. The information embodied by a thing can thus be said to be the identity of the particular thing itself, that is, all of its properties, all that makes it distinct from other (real or potential) things. It is a complete description of the thing, but in a sense that is divorced from any particular language.”
“History” is information as well and everything that has occurred in the past exists as information to describe the future. Action, or work, “writes” permanent information into history as physical changes are permanent and lasting. (Read: Entropy)
Thought is also information but information of another sort. (Read: Quantum Information) When you “think” you are manipulating and perceiving information in a direct manner. The distinction between the information of the mind and information that describes physical reality is that physical reality is “anchored” by physicality. To be clearer, the energy density of matter and other active energies are so great (by comparison) that they write their own information and stay “affixed” to the physical. Thought on the other hand has no physical counterpart. It is totally malleable and is not hindered by the constraints of the physical.
Energy is “encoded” with information to give it properties and form. Energy is, as stated before, a loose generalization of any active quantity of force, pressure, charge, emission, tension, and such being characterized as forms of potential, electromagnetic, chemical, thermal, nuclear, mass and kinetic energies of both physical and non-physical varieties. A general rule of thumb: If it is, it is energy.
Now I do want to make clear: We as a species have not fully grasped the scope of our reality. There is a realm of “something” beyond what most of us can currently perceive and manipulate. For the sake of grasping the abstractness of this concept, I will separate things like mass and heat and electricity and kinetic motions by calling that “energy.” The finer non-physical stuff that deals with internal potentials, the mind, Chi, qi, Prana, and such, I will call “subtle energy.”
Links. Think of “links” like a bond between two pieces of information that are so similar, they “combine” into one Entity. If you strike a tuning fork it will ring with its tone. If you bring another tuning fork of the same tone near it, the energy of the vibration will resonate with the energy of the one in proximity and they will exchange energy between each other thus causing both to ring.
Another example is with quantum entanglement. Basically, this experimentally tested phenomenon is based around the concept of establishing two particles in one “quantum state” (described by quantum information) and the changes made to one particle in an entangled system influences the same changes to the others.
Pulling this down to something more relatable, albeit more metaphysical in nature, is a mental link. When you interact with people, objects and your environment, you cause change. This causes information regarding you to be encoded in that which you have interacted with. This information “links” to you with the strength of the level of interaction. The more you interact with something, the more “synchronized” the link becomes. Touched on above, the entanglement of information facilitates a level of communication between you and a target on a deep level be it a mind-to-mind link or a mind-to-reality link. However, just like any information, you need to be able to perceive this interaction. You use your eyes to perceive visual information, your ears to perceive auditory information, your nose and mouth to distinguish chemical information and your sense of touch to abstract physical properties through feeling. All of these senses aid in your perception of reality and the more you can perceive, the more accurate and defined your mental information will be, thus the stronger the link will become.
Let’s connect this to PK now.
Say you have a ping pong ball on a flat tabletop and your goal is to move it. Well let’s take a look at the ping-pong ball: According to current international ping-pong regulations, it should weigh 2.7 grams and be about 40 millimeters in diameter. The one I have here in my hand does and is also fluorescent-yellow in color and has been slightly scuffed from use. Tapping it against a hard surface gives off a unique “tack” sound. The ball is made of celluloid and has a matte finish. It is filled with an inert gas to maintain a “coefficient of restitution” of 0.94 (the ball bounces 94% of the height of the last Bounce).
Why is this information important? Well, as I observe the various attributes of this ball, I am forming a “mental counterpart” in my mind (memory). I can, from here-on-out, recall specific attributes of this ball in great detail and even “simulate” scenarios in my mind and have a more accurate prediction of its behavior and mannerisms. The other factor here is that, as I continually refine my mental counterpart, it is resembling more and more, with greater detail and accuracy, the information that describes the actual physical object. This in turn “entangles” the information counterpart in your mind to the information that describes the object in reality.
A side note; the “accuracy” of your mental counterpart is only as accurate as the quality of your perception. The quality of your perception is based on the quality of your senses. There is so much involved with perception that it would take a whole another series of articles to cover it. My suggestion is that, to try to maintain a high level of “accuracy” in perception, meditate. Ground yourself in your reality and keep the wandering thoughts and expectations from polluting your perception. Without going off on a philosophical tangent, I will just say that the strength of your link is greatly affected by the “truth” of your perception.
As time advances, the information of the object will describe its properties that are defined by the objects state. It is a physical object. It has correct and true history that describes where it is, how it got there and how it came to be. The next moment in time has a clear and defined blueprint to describe how this assortment of particles will continue to exist. Until acted upon by external forces, the ball will continue to be where it is. In quantum mechanics, probability comes into play when you look at the likelihood of a future state of a system. One could look at this as “levels of likelihood” where an object that has little history to describe its location in space requires less influence (mental influence) to define its location. On the other hand, an object with a defined history will need much more influence to change (physical action). To do ANYTHING physical, you HAVE to have energy. That’s physics. Physics is generally not wrong. It has been tested for many centuries under countless conditions and we have a working framework that allows us to predict the results of our experiments with great precision. Does that mean physics currently encompasses all that there is to know? No. Does that mean that the limit of reality is the understood physical limit? No. BUT we DO understand how a lot of the physical operates and if ANYTHING physical is to occur, our natural laws generally hold true.
That being said, if your goal is to move the ball (a physical action) you need energy to do it. Picking up the ball with your hand and placing it elsewhere utilizes a system of physical actions and energies to alter the object. In this case the object’s position. But let’s say you wanted to move the ball with your mind.
So here I am with a solid, well defined memory of my ping pong ball which has facilitated a strong “link” of information between us. As I said before, time advances with the information of its “occupants” defining their future states.
Now we tie it all together:
Let’s visualize our ping-pong ball moving to the location we desire; the ball possibly rocking into a sway to break the inertia of it at rest. Once it overcomes the inertia it will begin to roll toward our target; we almost hear the sound of it rolling across the tabletop. This tactile information is being manipulated in our mind using spatial skill or “spatial-temporal reasoning;” a skill that we, as humans, use all the time in everyday life. This augmentation of our mental object’s information is communicated through our link to the “entangled” physical object and will “commit” these changes to the future state of the physical ping pong ball causing it to move as per our pre-programmed blueprint.
But wait… Nothing is happening!
In walks Energy Manipulation.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. For ANYTHING to occur physically you NEED to have energy to fuel the reaction. PERIOD!
In the grand scheme of things, this is where we all come up short; never having enough resources to accomplish a goal.
You see, physical reality has butt-loads of energy in it. (Split an atom to find out) However, most of it is being used to keep itself held together. While most energy is active, some of it is being “stored” as potential energy. Physical potential energy is stored in the physical system itself. This energy can be converted to many different kinds of energy like light, heat, even kinetic energy upon release. Energy potentials in a system of “subtle energies” have not been solidified into an accepted field of study however for those with an open mind, researching Scalar Field Theory or the much more widely accepted Quantum Electrodynamics will prime you for further experimentation.
For simplicity sake, I will refer to energy and potentials as “energy and potentials.” For those wanting to get their hands dirty with the science and math parts of this, you REALLY need to do lots of research on all sorts of branches of science, mathematics and physics; even the theoretical ones and those deemed “pseudoscience.” There is useful knowledge everywhere.
In energy manipulation, you work on perceiving and manipulating active energy. This energy could be transitioned from another active energy or it may be manifested from a supply of potential energy. Regardless of where it originated, in EM, you use your mental acuity to gather, move and impregnate the energy with information of your own design to execute a task. Another way to look at it, EM allows you to connect the three basic components we talked about earlier. Information, Energy and Links.
I think you can see where I’m going with this. In our example of moving the ping-pong ball, we may have had the information component required to describe our Intent, we may have produced a strong enough link to communicate this information to the object, but without enough energy to fuel the physical action, the ball will stay where it is. Energy manipulation allows you to gather and program energies to fuel reactions. Whether you are building a shield, crafting a Construct or fueling a PK reaction, EM is the basic skill-set that outfits you with the awareness and tactile Control over the most important aspect of any physical reaction: Energy.
I am of the opinion that we all use energy manipulation to do PK whether we are aware of it or not and that it is the most critical component of creating physical change. We will naturally utilize the mechanism to employ whatever potential energies are available in our environment at the time. As a matter of fact, I feel the distinction between PK and EM is more semantics than anything. Energy manipulation, I feel, is more fundamental than PK and that PK is simply physical extension of EM. I have studies, research and experimental data that support how I feel, but at this stage of the game, it is moot.
I will close with this to hammer in the point: Is EM important for PK? Well, that is up to the person practicing. We all have our reasons to believe what we do. You now know where I stand on the matter and I feel there is ample evidence to support my view. But we all come from many different walks of life. For the most part PK and EM are just terms. You can describe them as extensions of the mind, or external things we utilize when we learn how. Either way, it’s the results that matter. As you learn, you will find what works for you.
My advice is to learn as much is possible in all aspects of psionics.
Knowledge is power and when you deal with matters of the mind, nothing can be any truer than that.
