Get a pencil and paper and sit down at a table in a quiet space. Think about all of the good things about your position in life and write them down. Next, think about all of the bad things about your position in life and write them down. Next, choose a goal (or a few) and write them down. Bring this paper with you for a day or two, noting all of the additional good things, bad things, and goals you can think of. After a day or two, choose a goal you would like to shoot towards.
Do not move on with the guide until you have given this exercise a day or two of thought.
