Common Meditation Techniques For Use with Psionics
Meditation, within the context of Psionics and psychic abilities, can be defined as activity used commonly in conjunction with progressive relaxation, in order to reach separate states of consciousness, which are often required in order to have an out-of-body experience (OBE, OOBE), a lucid dream, or to successfully astral project. Meditation techniques are also used in frequent conjunction with other psionic / psychic skills for the purpose of noticing specific bodily processes.

Cross-Legged Sitting Style
First, we are going to begin by discussing probably the most obvious common physical feature during a meditation practice, which is the method of sitting. Commonly, those engaging in meditation-based practices use a sitting technique that incorporates a cross-legged sitting posture. This technique, although not required, is frequent within meditation practicing circles. Sitting cross-legged for extended periods of time can cause varying degrees of discomfort. If you feel uncomfortable, don’t be afraid to try alternative sitting styles. The first method of sitting cross-legged is often referred to as sitting “indian style”, or sitting “tailor style”. This method typically involves having the feet bent inward and under the body, with both ankles on the floor. The second method of sitting cross-legged is very common amongst meditation practitioners, and is often referred to as the “lotus position”. The lotus position typically involves crossing the legs in an upward position, and involves having the feed bent inward, with the feet resting on opposing thighs. A variant of the lotus position is called the “half-lotus”, which involves having only one foot resting on the opposing thigh.
Back / Spine
Another common physical feature in meditation practice involves placing the back/spine in a straight position(read: don’t slouch). Within many traditions, the spine is kept straight in order to encourage the “flow of energy”. Although a straight back/spine is very common in meditation, within some traditions, it is okay to remain in a traditional posture for meditation-based practices.
Another feature common for those practicing meditation is the act of incorporating various hand gestures(these are alternatively called mudras), into practice. The purpose of mudras, according to yogic philosophy, is that they purportedly assist in altering consciousness states. This might be beneficial if attempting to have an out-of-body experience (OBE, OOBE), lucid dream (LD), or astral projection (AP). Mudras are common practice under both yogic philosophy and under buddhism.
